 Sculpture Trail Dates: 17th September – 19th October 2025, open Wed – Sun 10-5pm. Installation: 13th & 14th Sept 2025

After the success of our first sculpture trails at Bayfield Hall, north Norfolk, we are looking for artists interested in exhibiting at our fourth trail in October 2025. Curated by Sarah Cannell (Raveningham Sculpture Trail) the trail will take place in the historic grounds of the beautiful Bayfield Hall with kind permission from Caroline and Roger Combe.

PLACE – There is a rich history of artists, makers, communities who have focused on a specific area for many years. Ted Ellis, spent his lifetime learning about the flora and fauna at Wheatfen, a south Norfolk broad. Claude Monet created endless paintings of his gardens and lake at Giverny, France. In a way each of these lives spent focusing so intently on a specific place become a kind of love letter to a place. We are looking for artists who are interested in responding to the beautiful grounds at Bayfield. The birds, bats, insects, plants, woodland creatures which have made the place their home. The colours, trees, leaves and chalk stream which flows through the valley. The wildflower garden on site which have a mix of formal gardens and a wilder area with the remains of the family chapel all overlooking the River Glaven, a unique chalk stream environment.

We are looking for artists who are interested in responding to the beautiful grounds which have a mix of formal gardens and a wilder area with the remains of the family chapel all overlooking the River Glaven, a unique chalk stream environment. There is also the Wildflower Centre & Cafe on site and public walks through the woods.

Our fourth annual Sculpture Trail at Bayfield Hall is an opportunity to exhibit and sell artwork and the project is brought to you by Creative Odyssey CIC – arts projects in nature to inspire and soothe the soul. Apply below, deadline 18th April 2025.

Space Allocation and Site Visits

Artists can visit Bayfield Hall Antiques and the Wildflower Cafe to get a feel for the space, both are open wed – sun 10 – 4pm. Once selected there will be the opportunity for artists to have a tour of the site with the curator to discuss spaces. Each artist is required to propose a first, second and third choice of space for their work. We will do as much as we can to find the right fit for each artist and artwork.

Marketing and Social Media

Instagram and Facebook are an important part of our reach to visitors and building the excitement for the trail. Please follow and link as much as possible to our Instagram @bayfieldhallsculpture #bayfieldhallsculpturetrail www.bayfieldhallsculpture.com There will be good road signage and a trail brochure featuring an image and short text for each artist, this will be downloadable as a PDF on the website too.

Trail Sales and Pop Up Gallery

We aim to sell works from the trail for our artists but there is also the opportunity for those wanting to show more experimental works which may not be for sale. All Artists taking part in the Trail can put additional smaller 3D works into a pop up gallery space in the old stable block which houses Bayfield Hall Antiques.

Commission on all artworks is 35%, this goes towards running the Trail and any profit is put into the Creative Odyssey CIC which delivers Arts, Nature and Wellbeing projects at Raveningham and Bayfield including the Raveningham Sculpture Trail, Woodland Lumiere, Bayfield Sculpture Trail, Workshops, Community Pottery amongst others, more info at www.raveninghamsculpturetrail.com

Insurance

It is the Artist’s responsibility to ensure that their artworks are installed safely and a risk assessment sheet is completed outlining the method of installation. Every Artist taking part in the Bayfield Sculpture Trail must have their own insurance in place. If you don’t currently have Insurance for your practice then the simplest way to do this is to join Artists Newsletter for an annual fee of £38 which includes insurance for individual artist practitioners. More info here www.a-n.co.uk/join There will be a risk assessment of the Trail prior to opening to the public and if there are any issues with the installation of artworks the Artist would work closely with the Curator and Site Manager to resolve them in time for the Trail opening. If an artwork is ultimately deemed unsafe or unsuitable the Curator and Site Manager reserve the right to exclude the work from the Trail.

Invigilating

All Artists taking part will be required to invigilate at the Sculpture Trail for 2 days 9.30-5pm. We can cover for any artists who live outside Norfolk/Suffolk. There will be a Site Manager on site at all times who will train and support invigilators.
